the reaction between sulphuric acid and sugar
i agree with tomtomgo37
Sorry, but how old are you? And are you chemistry student??
17 years old and studying forensic science
i wonder if the smoke is toxic. what does it smell like?
great job.could you do it with hydrochloric acid instead?it’ll be great to see whats happens in our stomach.
how is the % comp of sulfure acid, cause u have not gloves!!
That is amazing.
That gas is toxic you know… Also it’s alot of pollution
@321MPC yep i use a carbon filter mask so it dosent effect me. and the pollution – who cares about the pollution with the amout of cars we have on the road in the uk thats more to worry about lol.
what’s with those two compounds that makes it react like that?
@hisatsustrike if that happened in our stomach, sugar would be OUTLAWED!
but no that only works with sulfuric acid. it’s all ’bout chemistry.
I noticed while watching the video clip that the gas wasn’t the only byproduct of this chemical reaction. There was also some black syrupy goo left over. If somebody did an experiment with that goo, would the result have any good commercial uses? I’m asking because this is very fascinating. It’s too bad I don’t have a knack for higher math or chemistry.
@1958boomergirl the gasses/steam you can see from the reaction are just water and sulfur oxide. and the black stuff is carbon. and i have to agree with you on the math haha i hate it. im studying forensic and medical science and i hate the math in it.
try it in a beaker, it forms a pilar of carbon instead of a pile.
@Dannybroadsword1 already done a video of it 🙂
how the heck do you clean a beaker that has all that carbon?
@nerdalert226 with a lot of soapy water and time haha most of flasks need throwing out after the experiment
@mrdan4 hmmmmmm im not sure i will do that in a beaker then im probly going to do it in a petri dish like you did:)
@nerdalert226 but you do get a different affect in a beaker (: do take a look at my other sulphuric acid and sugar video
ITS GROWING, KILL IT WITH FIRE AAAARG
So that’s how they made spiderman’s black costume
does sulphuric acid burn anything or does it only cause reactions with certain things?
whoa no gloves?
