Elephant Toothpaste Experiment: Elephant Toothpaste is an interesting science experiment that combines soapy hydrogen peroxide with yeast. The yeast is added to the hydrogen peroxide and it quickly produces water and CO2, or soap suds. Then, the foamy substance comes streaming out of the bottle, just as toothpaste comes out of the tube! The experiment is affectionately known as “Elephant Toothpaste” because it makes a large stream of soapy suds and it would take a large stream of “toothpaste” to brush an elephant’s teeth. Join Creative Discovery Museum for Chemistry Fun Day on Saturday, October 22, 2011 to see the experiment live!
